Being a Kingdom minded mother in today’s world can be so difficult with all we are faced with and the expectations that come with being so technologically connected… not to mention all that our children and grandchildren are exposed to at school, on TV, and unfortunately social media.

Never before have the voices of the world been so loud and the challenges so obvious… an economy where the pinched pennies need pinching, parents are pulled in multiple directions to make ends meet, and kids spending more time with their attention on TikTok and in class rooms or with people where they are being indoctrinated with the beliefs of those who do not know God and definitely do not have our kids best interests in mind.

Confusion is running rampant and as mommas and grandmas we don’t always know where to turn for peace, direction, and the proper correction for our families.

There is HOPE and a place you can go to find what you need to be the best YOU, your family needs you to be.

You may be thinking, Marci, wherever this place is in the world,  I’ll get my plane ticket TODAY… I need HOPE!

Well, I know you are probably picturing a place on a secluded beach somewhere… yet the destination I am speaking of is much closer and always within reach…

I am referring to THE WORD OF GOD and what HE SAYS about Motherhood!

The Bible brings an Enduring Encouragement to mothers: A different Perspective than what the world brings.

Motherhood is a journey filled with immense joy, profound love, and moments of pure exhaustion and even at times pain. The Bible offers a wealth of encouragement for mothers, reminding us of the significance of our role, the strength we possess, and the unfailing love of God that sustains us.

Let’s spend some time today exploring 8 ways scripture speaks to the hearts of us mothers, offering comfort, guidance, and a renewed sense of purpose. Make sure to get all the way to the 8th way as it will give you a special blessing today.

1st Being a mother is a Calling, Not a Chore

The Bible elevates motherhood from a mere duty to a sacred calling.

Proverbs 31:10-31 paints a beautiful picture of a capable woman, a "wife of noble character" who manages her household with wisdom and grace. This passage doesn't create an unrealistic ideal; instead, it highlights the value mothers bring – their industrious nature, unwavering faith, and fierce love for their families.

More importantly, the Bible showcases mothers who played pivotal roles in God's plan. Hannah, in her fervent prayer for a child (1 Samuel 1:9-20), exemplifies unwavering faith and the power of a mother's love. The Virgin Mary's unwavering trust in God's will, despite the social and personal challenges she faced (Luke 1:26-38), demonstrates immense courage and devotion. These stories remind mothers that their role, however seemingly ordinary, contributes significantly to God's grand design.

2nd God can be your Support and give you Strength for the Journey

Motherhood is a demanding yet rewarding pursuit. The Bible acknowledges the challenges mothers face and offers solace and strength. Isaiah 40:11 says "He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those who are nursing." This verse beautifully depicts God's tender care, reminding us that we are not alone. He carries our burdens, offering emotional and spiritual support through challenging times.

When doubt creeps in, we can find reassurance in scriptures like Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Prayer becomes a source of strength, allowing mothers to express our anxieties and receive God's calming presence.

As a mother we can leave a Lasting Legacy: Shaping the Hearts and Minds of our children and grandchildren.

Proverbs 22:6 says "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." This verse underscores the profound impact mothers have on ourv children's lives. We are entrusted with the privilege of shaping our children's values, nurturing their faith, and instilling in them a sense of compassion and kindness.

The story of Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5) exemplifies this influence. Paul commends Timothy for his genuine faith, a faith nurtured by his mother Eunice and grandmother Lois (2 Timothy 1:5). We have the power to plant seeds of faith and goodness in our children's hearts, shaping them into individuals who leave a positive mark on the world.

3rd Let’s Find Joy in the Journey by Embracing the Precious Moments we have as our children grow and mature

Motherhood is a whirlwind of emotions, filled with moments of immense joy and the quiet satisfaction of watching our children blossom. The Bible reminds mothers to cherish these precious moments, the fleeting smiles, the first wobbly steps, and the infectious laughter that fills their homes. If you are a maturing lady like I am, you know that it is so important to store up those beautiful memories… as there will be difficulties in mothering.  The memories and the times we cherish will help us endure the hard ones we go through.

Proverbs 17:21 "Whoever begets a fool does so to his sorrow, but a father in a son finds delight." This verse, while directed at fathers, can also resonate with us mothers. The delight a child brings is a gift to be treasured. As our children are getting older, and even having children themselves, I am delighting in the father my son has become and the reward that grandchildren are…

Our children are a source of immense joy, and savoring these moments becomes a form of gratitude to God for their presence in our lives.

The Bible acknowledges the fleeting nature of childhood. Psalm 144:4 "Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow." Just as a shadow disappears quickly, so does childhood. By embracing the "now" and finding joy in the small moments, we can create lasting memories and strengthen the bond with our children.

4th Mommas can draw on the strength of sisterhood by Building a Community of Support

The journey of motherhood is not meant to be walked alone. The Bible emphasizes the importance of Christian fellowship, and we can find immense encouragement from other mothers within our church communities. Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, friend sharpens friend." Just as iron sharpens iron, sharing experiences and challenges with other mothers can provide valuable support and sharpen our faith.

Titus 2:3-5 instructs older women to "teach what is good" and to "train the younger women to be loving wives and mothers." This verse highlights the importance of mentorship within the church community. Us more mature and experienced mothers can offer guidance and support to younger mothers, fostering a sense of shared purpose and sisterhood.

Building relationships with other mothers allows for a safe space to share struggles, celebrate victories, and pray for one another. This network of support becomes a source of strength, reminding us we are not alone in this demanding yet rewarding journey.

5th The Power of Forgiveness and Grace is not found anywhere as strong as in A Mother's Heart

Motherhood is a constant dance of love, discipline, and forgiveness. The Bible offers guidance on navigating these aspects with grace and compassion. Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you." This verse reminds us of the transformative power of forgiveness. We as Mothers can extend forgiveness to our children, fostering a sense of security and unconditional love within the family. This also teaches our children the valuable lessons of how to forgive quickly and not to let any negative experience or emotion to foster ill will.

Colossians 3:13 says "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." This verse emphasizes the importance of forgiveness, not just for others but also for oneself. I personally know that Motherhood comes with its share of mistakes and moments of self-doubt, that if not forgiven lend to shame and guilt that cause all kinds of damage in its wake. By embracing God's grace and forgiving ourselves, we can move forward with renewed strength and a lighter heart. All while showing our children it is ok not to be perfect and that we are worthy enough to forgive.

6th Nurturing Seeds of Belief leads to Leaving a Legacy of Faith

My husband and I have a blended family with our four children.  The older 2 are my biological kiddos and the younger 2 are my husband’s. When my babies were young, I did not have a personal relationship with God and so they were raised in a difficult home without a strong Christian presence.  I came to know Jesus personally in 2012 when I was 41 years old, met my husband, Dondee and he took me to the church we are members of… Even after giving my life to God, I held onto so much shame and guilt for so many years.. I am so grateful that God helped me heal, forgive myself, and has lifted that burden from me. I know that God loves the prayers of us praying mommas!  I see him working in my kid’s lives and I praise him for being so faithful even though I did not raise them how I now know would have been best.

Now I live my life in a way that I pray speaks to them of a loving Father in Heaven without having to say a thing…

Mothers, we play a pivotal role in shaping our children's faith, no matter their age or how old they are when we start. The Bible offers guidance on how to instill Christian values and encourage them to develop their own relationship with God.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 instructs parents: "These commands I give you today must be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." This verse emphasizes the importance of including faith into daily life. Mothers, we can create a faith-filled environment through prayer, attending church services together, listening to worship music and reading Bible stories.

Proverbs 22:6 "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" reminds us that the foundation laid in childhood shapes who our children become. By fostering a love for God and his teachings, we plant seeds of faith that can blossom throughout our children's lives.

However, it's important to remember that faith is a personal journey. We can encourage our children to develop their own relationship with God through open communication, creating a safe space for them to ask questions and explore their beliefs. Ultimately, the goal is not to force faith but to nurture a love for God and allow their faith to grow organically.

7th Mothering Through Different Seasons: A Journey of Growth

The Bible offers encouragement for us at every stage of our journey. You Young mothers, embarking on this new adventure, can find solace in Psalm 127:3 "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him." This verse reminds us of the precious gift we have been entrusted with.

Proverbs 31:28-29 offers praise for all of us capable women who raise our children with wisdom and love. This can be a source of encouragement for mothers in the thick of raising young children, reminding us of our strength and competence.

As our children grow older, we face new challenges. Proverbs 13:24 "Whoever spares the rod hates their son, but whoever loves him is diligent to discipline him." This verse acknowledges the importance of discipline while emphasizing that it should stem from our love and desire to help our kids learn and grow. The Bible offers guidance on navigating these challenges with love and wisdom.

Mature mommas, too, can find comfort in scripture. Ruth 1:16-17 depicts the unwavering love of Naomi for her daughters-in-law, even as they choose their own paths. This story reminds us that our love extends beyond physical proximity, and the bond we share with our children transcends distance and time.

8th A Mother's Prayer: Strength, Guidance, and Unwavering Love

OK, we have reached the final way we will be discussing in how the Bible speaks to the hearts of Moms… and it is your own prayer.

God asks us to pray continuously in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, mothers with hearts full of love and a yearning to raise our children according to your will. Grant us the wisdom and strength to navigate this journey, the patience to endure challenging moments, and the boundless love to nurture our children.
Help us find joy in the precious moments, the first steps, the infectious laughter, and the quiet satisfaction of watching them grow. Guide us in building a community of support within the church, finding strength and encouragement from other mothers who share this sacred calling.

In your holy name, we pray.
Amen.
